Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection is included when you open your checking account. It pays transactions that would overdraw your checking account by automatically transferring funds from a different account you have with Texas Trust that is linked to your checking account. You have the option to link a savings account, credit card, line of credit, or even another checking account. Through Online Banking, you can link multiple accounts and customize the order in which you want to use them to cover your overdrafts. [Learn More]
Overdraft Protection is the first source of funds for all overdraft occurrences. If the linked accounts do not have a sufficient available balance, we will use Standard Overdraft Privilege or Extended Overdraft Privilege to pay the transaction up to specified limits if they apply to your account.
Applicable fees are in the Fee Schedule
You can terminate Overdraft Protection at any time via email; secure message center in online banking; branch visit; or telephone at (972) 263-5171 or (800) 527-3600; or mail at PO Box 2260, Mansfield, Texas 76063.
If neither Overdraft Protection nor Overdraft Privilege allow payment of an overdraft, the transaction may be declined for insufficient funds and the NSF fee in the Fee Schedule will be charged.
Overdraft Protection is not a line of credit. We provide Overdraft Protection to eligible members at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined, and a separate NSF Fee will be charged for the initial presentation of the transaction and for any re-submissions or re-presentments.
Standard Overdraft Privilege
Standard Overdraft Privilege is provided to you when your account is opened and stays in place as long as your account remains in good standing. When you have an overdraft in your checking account and your linked accounts do not have sufficient available funds to pay it, we use Standard Overdraft Privilege for purchases made using your checking account and routing numbers.
This coverage includes Bill Pay payments, checks, and ACH transactions. We’ll pay these transactions automatically up to your overdraft limit. [Learn More]
Applicable fees are in the Fee Schedule
For the first 30 days of opening a checking account, your limit is $100. After 30 days, standard overdraft limits are $500, however if your checking account has a monthly direct deposit of $500 or more, your limit is $1,000. Keep in mind the limit includes both applicable fees and transaction amounts.
Everyday debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals are not covered with Standard Overdraft Privilege. You have the choice of opting into Extended Overdraft Privilege for those transactions. See below.
