We want to share a story with you about an attempted scam that targeted one of our members.
Mr. “Smith” received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Texas Trust. The caller requested sensitive personal information, including his full social security number. Mr. “Smith” immediately disconnected the call and then notified us. We contacted the FBI and was informed that a common tactic of scammers is to pose as a representative of a financial institution that has recently been in the news.
Members, we assure you that Texas Trust will never contact you to request personal information that we already have in our files (such as, your account number and social security number) or have no need to know (such as, your PIN).
We want to thank Mr. “Smith” for telling us about his experience and allowing us to share it with you. And, we encourage you to do the same should you receive a similar call, email, or text message.
By keeping informed and staying vigilant, we can fight back against these scammers.
